Hey Ladies ...Gents... SO.. I haven't contributed to this blog in a looonnnnnngggg time. I must apologise but life has been super crazy, and with us being in the midst of a pandemic, we are all pretty much in the same boat with the craziness.

I hope you and your families are well and safe...please take care xx

My Insta page @sophiemaykeup is used as a type of personal gallery in which to share my makeup creations. Makeup for me is my full time job, hobby, passion and also my personal therapy so I guess you could say it's my true love!! (Finally!!! haha)

Anxiety has always played a part in my life and to be honest it's part of me. Sometimes I hate it, but other times I realise it's made me who I am. I have a huge heart and enjoy helping others in any way I can and so my page naturally became a platform to be able to offer my words of support, advice and experience and also to share my experiences, and even if I only help one person; one follower, that is enough for me. As much as Social Media can be a curse, it ca also prove invaluable for those who need that extra bit of help, communication, or to be able to lose themselves in the moment.

If I'm honest I've been struggling with a lot of huge life decisions I've been facing. My anxiety basically arises when I'm feeling vulnerable, with new experiences and also when too much is happening at once. In this case it all came to a head and I cried solidly for an hour just to let out my emotions. I also made some big changes to my future plans to ease the anxiety and my shoulders are back where they are supposed to be (when I'm tense, they're up round my ears!!) Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!

Anyway, my one saving grace is that I know I can turn to makeup if I need to calm myself down. I knew I had to shut myself away in my room and do what I do best. Selecting my brushes, setting up ring lights and choosing my palettes, I felt a rush of excitement and I knew I could let out my frustration on my face!!!

Makeup may seem to many as a superficial way of feeling good or a form of vanity but it is my art and a way of expressing myself.

The benefits of makeup include:

- Boosting confidence - Pretty obvious peeps! Makeup can change your whole persona and even learning how to apply and take care of yourself can raise self esteem

- Preparing you for "battle" - Let's face the day guys and girls!!!!! When I wear red lipstick I feel I can face anything

- Making you appear more competent; even if you don't feel like it - sometimes makeup can add to your professionalism

- Helping women connect - I know when I have my nails done, one of the best things is having random convos with other customers in the shop. It's also great for women with confidence issues to speak through their worries and realise we are all the damn same!!

- Designated "you" time - lovely jubbly! There's nothing better than putting on some Amy Winehouse (or whatever you chill out to) and taking time out alone to dedicate some proper self care time to creating whatever look you wish to... sometimes this takes me 3 hours but its amazing therapy!

- It's fun!!

So the look I created for this therapy sesh was a red lip and golden eye creation. Super happy with it and it made me feel amazing (I always hate removing it after hours creating it but hey ho)... feel free to check it out on my pages - @sophiemaykeup or Sophie May Makeup on Facebook.

Right guys, I'm signing off but I promise to catch up a lot more than once a year hahaha

Please keep safe and see you on the socials xxxxxxxxxx
