Highlighter!! It's huge!! Unless you've been under a rock, you would have heard about/seen/used some kind of highlighting product.
It finishes every single makeup look perfectly; whether you are applying a heavy highlight stroke for the perfect photograph or a light dusting of shimmer for a healthy and natural glow.
Guess what; highlighter comes in a range of colours, not only a white/silver which is the most common shade. MUA Cosmetics (available from Superdrug) have a beautiful range of highlighter shades and I currently own their pink, gold and blue-white :-)
My Photo shows the blue-white highlighter from MUA- I was going for a super-shimmer look for an effective image. These highlighters are so affordable at only £3 - it's crazy not to give these a go and maybe collect them all.
So.. where do I apply? I apply the highlighter to any of the points on my face where the light would naturally hit. Any area of the face that I want to bring to the forefront and shine - brow arch, highest point of my cheekbones/apples of my cheeks, a dab on my nose and down the centre line of my nose (along with contouring - my next blog), a little on the forehead above my brows, and a dab on my chin (not too much as you don't want to accentuate your chin size too much!! A handy tip of mine as well is that no matter what type of make up or how much I am wearing (even my every day work makeup), I always dab some highlighter to the inner corner of my eyes. This always brightens and wakes up my eyes and brings life to any tiredness or anxiety that may be present that day. On a night out I really go to town with the eye highlighter and I was told on my Instagram page (@sophiemaykeup) that it really works as it looks like fairy dust :-)
My advice would be to start out with a small amount of highlighter and maybe in a more natural shade and build up until you are comfortable. It soon becomes a natural process and you will find yourself highlighting certain points automatically.
You can always add a shimmer to your foundation with liquid highlighter. You can apply this first to your skin or to your actual foundation. Only add a couple of drops at first and go from there. This is especially great for the summer; some summertime shimmer- who doesn' love a glow int he summertime!!
Thanks for reading my blog; let me know how you get on- I'd love to see your pics; you might make it to my site next time :-)
